Re-present | Rear-view was a video installation and round table discussion presented in 2018 during an art residency at the Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik (ZK/U)/Centre for Art & Urban Studies in Moabit, Berlin. It featured two videos I made documenting the Moving in-to Context workshops and public performance (refer tab on homepage)
Eight of the particpant-performers were present for the round table discussion (listed above). Together we addressed questions from the audience about the topics explored during the workshops, our participatory creative processes, and how our performance and design methodologies facilitated the explorations. We also discussed the important questions of how to navigate and participate in collective democratic deliberation with people holding very different identities and worldviews.
The project is part of my ongoing research into migration, democracy and new narratives. In this research, I use aesthetic means to understand conditions, and develop new narratives around the following topics and ideas: migration, hospitality, refuge, reciprocity, intersubjectivity, co-creation, identity-in-the-making, democracy, and inclusive cities.
