TELL ME A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF: a performance installation

MOABIT | BERLIN | GERMANY | 2018

Edited, curated and hosted by Caroline Vains in residence at ZK/U

Participants: Caroline Vains and Fetewei Tarekegn.

Overview: Tell me a little about yourself was a performative installation in two parts. It was presented in 2018 during an art residency at the Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik (ZK/U)/Centre for Art & Urban Studies in Moabit, Berlin. It experimented with practices of hospitality, welcome, trust, and how to meet ‘strangers’. It invited visitors to share their thoughts, feelings and experiences of integration.

The project is part of my ongoing research into migration, democracy and new narratives. In this research, I use aesthetic means to understand conditions, and develop new narratives around the following topics and ideas: migration, hospitality, refuge, reciprocity, intersubjectivity, co-creation, identity-in-the-making, democracy, and inclusive cities.
