A commission by Melbourne International Jazz Festival to design and construct the scenography for The Cave, a festival held over 3 nights as part of the larger festival in 2012. The design included three free standing stalactite forms (4 metres high) animated by digital video projection, and numerous smaller works around the club.

The brief asked us to explore innovative ways of bringing physical spatial design and digital projection together. The projects innovation lay in the expanding of flat screen technology out into three-dimensional physical environments that could be occupied, played and danced in by a multitude of performers and audience members. We were also asked to explore ways of interpreting jazz spaces of the past through contemporary projection technologies and speculative about future jazz spaces.

The 3 night event played to capacity attendance from 9pm to 5am. The event was considered a critical success and the producer was asked to curate the same event again this year.
